Sardar Saleem Haider Khan, the ceremonial head of the country's most populous province, has said that India is envious of Pakistan's progress.
During a visit to a tractor manufacturing company in Sheikhupura, the Punjab governor, who belongs to the PPP, said on Sunday that the security and law and order situation in the country was satisfactory thanks to the Pakistan Army.
He declared the April 22 Pahalgam incident "a drama". Khan urged India to present solid evidence of Pakistan's alleged involvement in the attack on tourists, warning that Pakistan has the capacity to give a befitting response to any misadventure on part of India.
He said the troops guarding the Pakistani borders, should not consider themselves alone as the entire nation stands behind them. He described the incumbent COAS, General Asim Munir, as "a dauntless person".
The governor noted that the automobile and motorbike manufacturing industries in the country are rapidly growing. He said the incumbent government is specially focusing on manufacturing electric cars and motorbikes.
He said progress in industries is vital for national security. "The youth is proving its mettle in every field including the modern technologies," he said, adding that his party, the PPP, always stands by the poor and the suppressed classes.
On April 22, unknown militants attacked tourists near Pahalgam area in the IIOJK. India immediately blamed Pakistan for the attack while taking a slew of measures including the unilateral suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty (IWT).
