Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Nawaz Sharif on Sunday to deliberate on key national issues, including the country’s economic challenges and rising tensions with India.

The meeting was held at the Sharif family residence in Jati Umra, Raiwind, according to party sources cited by Express News.

The leaders reportedly assessed the current political landscape and the implications of regional developments, particularly the fallout from a deadly attack in IIOJK and the subsequent diplomatic strain.

Pahalgam attack and diplomatic aftermath

On April 22, 26 people were killed in an attack at a tourist site in Pahalgam, located in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). India accused Pakistan of involvement without presenting evidence—a claim Islamabad strongly denied.

The Indian government responded by announcing several measures, including the closure of the Wagah-Attari border crossing, issuing travel advisories against Pakistan, and suspending the Indus Waters Treaty.

In retaliation, Pakistan’s National Security Committee warned that any disruption of water flow would be viewed as an act of war. Pakistan’s Senate also passed a resolution rejecting India’s allegations.
