Hollywood’s beloved duo Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock are teaming up once more — this time for a romantic thriller produced by Amazon MGM Studios.

PEOPLE has confirmed that the pair, who famously starred together in 1994’s Speed and 2006’s The Lake House, are returning to the screen for a new project that has fans buzzing.

The film’s script is penned by Noah Oppenheim, known for writing the critically acclaimed biopic Jackie and co-creating Netflix’s Zero Day, which stars Robert De Niro.

Also attached to the project is Mark Gordon, the original producer of Speed, bringing the reunion full circle.

Reeves and Bullock, both 60, recently marked the 30th anniversary of Speed by appearing at a special screening at the Egyptian Theatre during Beyond Fest.

Joined by director Jan de Bont, 80, the trio participated in a live talkback, sharing behind-the-scenes stories from the adrenaline-packed thriller.

In Speed, Reeves played Jack, an LAPD officer racing to stop a bus from exploding if its speed dropped below 50 mph. Bullock played Annie, the passenger-turned-driver navigating chaos on the road.

Together with Harry (Jeff Daniels), they faced off against Dennis Hopper’s villainous Howard Payne. Reflecting on the film, Reeves said, “We knew we were doing something wacky.”

Bullock added with a laugh, “I was behind the wheel of a projectile, so I was just happy to be alive at the end of the day.”

When the audience at Beyond Fest cheered at the mention of a third Speed movie, de Bont playfully responded, “I think it would be a different movie.”

Looking at the two stars, he added, “It would be great to work with them [again].”

Bullock had her own spin on the idea, saying a third film would be “the geriatric version. It won’t be fast.”

Reeves, meanwhile, is keeping busy with several projects, including reprising his iconic role as John Wick in the Ballerina spin-off starring Ana de Armas, and portraying an angel in Aziz Ansari’s upcoming comedy Good Fortune.

He’s also producing an adaptation of his comic book BRZRKR, which he co-wrote with Matt Kindt, as both a film and anime series.

Bullock is currently working on a sequel to Practical Magic alongside Nicole Kidman, bringing more nostalgia to fans of her past hits.
