ISI chief appointed as National Security Adviser

A formal notification regarding his appointment has also been issued, according to media reports.

Director General of Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), Lieutenant General Mohammad Asim Malik, has been appointed as Pakistan’s new National Security Adviser (NSA), according to media reports.

Sources confirmed that Lt Gen Malik has been given the NSA position as an additional charge. A formal notification regarding his appointment has also been issued. He was appointed as the head of the ISI in September, 2024.

His latest assignment places him at the centre of Pakistan’s national security policy at a time of heightened regional tensions and evolving internal and external security dynamics.
