PESHAWAR:

Hundreds of trucks have been left stranded as a result of the lawyers' protest at Baberlo Bypass, Sukkur in Sindh.

Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa's Minister for Auqaf and Religious Affairs, Sahibzada Muhammad Adnan Qadri, has expressed concern over the plight of transporters from Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa who are stranded due to an ongoing sit-in.

In a press statement issued from his office on Sunday, the minister stated that innocent drivers are being harassed under the guise of protests and sit-ins over canal-related issues.

In his statement, the minister said that the drivers are at the mercy of thieves during the day and dacoits at night. He added that incidents of daylight robbery—where batteries are stolen from loaded vehicles and drivers are deprived of their mobile phones and cash—are on the rise, while no effective action has been taken by the authorities.

Qadri noted that most of the affected drivers hail from K-P and particularly from District Khyber. He highlighted that these drivers are stranded in extreme heat of 45 degrees Celsius, helplessly stuck on the roads with their loaded vehicles.
