A man and his son were killed in a shooting incident over a land dispute in the suburbs of Okanwala Bangla on Sunday.
The accused, Muzammil alias Babli, opened fire and killed his paternal uncle Zulfiqar Ali and cousin Tahir, before escaping.
Police said Zulfiqar Ali, a landlord of a Rajput family, had a land dispute with his nephew Muzammil alias Babli, which the accused had also taken possession of and due to which a few days ago, there was a bitter argument between the two.
On the day of the incident, the accused invited the uncle and his son to his camp under the pretext of reconciliation and opened fire on them indiscriminately, as a result of which both of them died on the spot, while Zulfiqar's wife Shehnaz Bibi miraculously survived.
The deceased Tahir was the only brother of five sisters.
Police from Okanwala Bangla reached the spot and transported the bodies to Tehsil Head Quarters (THQ) Hospital Chichawatni for autopsy and registered a case under Section 302 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) on the complaint of the deceased's wife Shahnaz Bibi.
DPO Sahiwal Rana Tahir Rehman Khan sent DSP Taseer Riaz Cheema to the spot. He stated that a complete and transparent investigation into the incident would be conducted and the accused would be brought to justice soon.
