Punjab weather forecast: Dust storms, rising heat, and chance of scattered showers

Isolated showers may bring brief relief, but overall temperatures expected to rise.

Parts of Punjab experienced varied weather conditions as rain, dust storms and overcast skies swept through the province, with meteorologists warning of an impending rise in temperature.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) said that while some northern districts, including Gujranwala and Rawalpindi divisions, may receive light to moderate rainfall, most of southern Punjab and the Lahore division are likely to encounter dusty winds without significant precipitation, Express News reported.

The weather pattern follows a weakening rain system that, according to the PMD, is expected to exit the country by the end of the day.

As a result, temperatures across the province are forecast to climb steadily in the coming days.

“Areas that receive rainfall may witness brief respite from the heat,” a PMD official said, “but the broader trend indicates a gradual intensification of heat.”

In Lahore, minimum temperatures were recorded at 24°C early Friday, with daytime highs projected to touch 40°C.

Dust-laden winds are expected to contribute to discomfort, particularly in urban centres.

While sporadic rain may offer temporary relief, forecasters warned residents to prepare for hotter conditions ahead.
