Liv Tyler opens up about discovering Steven Tyler is her real dad, a truth still painful for Todd Rundgren.

Speaking on the Sibling Revelry podcast with Kate and Oliver Hudson, the Armageddon actress reflected on how Rundgren stepped into the father role during her early years, despite knowing there was a possibility he wasn't her biological dad.

"I think it's probably still very hard and painful, and I don't speak to him enough. I love him," Liv said of Rundgren, 76. "He took care of me as if he was Dad."

Liv, born in 1977, confirmed through a paternity test at age 11 or 12 that Steven Tyler was her biological father. But even before the test, Liv said she felt a connection to him after attending one of his concerts, prompting her mother, Bebe Buell, to reveal the truth.

"The first wave was shock," Liv recalled. "Then I came to the conclusion, like, wow—I have two dads and all this love."

She noted that both Steven and Todd remained unique, supportive figures in her life, calling them “unicorns or wizards” in how they shaped her upbringing.

Despite the unconventional dynamic, Liv expressed deep gratitude for Rundgren's role, calling him a “stable, loving force” throughout her life—even as the truth about her parentage unfolded.

As she put it: “It’s a big thing for a man to say, ‘I know this kid might not be mine, but I still want to be her father.’”
