
A delegation of the Economic Cooperation Organisation visited the Civil Secretariat on Sunday on the invitation of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif as part of an effort to get the city declared as the ECO tourism capital for 2027.
Punjab Tourism Secretary Farid Ahmad Tarar briefed the delegation about the historical and cultural importance of Lahore.
It also visited the archaeology museum in the secretariat and the Anarkali Tomb, where its members showed interest in restoration work. The delegation also visited the Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA) headquarters and reviewed live surveillance of important tourist spots of the city through the command and control centre.
It was informed that protection of the people, including foreign tourists, was being ensured with the artificial intelligence technology. The team also briefed about the emergency helpline centre and facial recognition system.
The delegation also visited the country's first virtual women police station, child centre and blood bank centre.
