ISLAMABAD:

The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has declared the police report submitted on the matter of prioritising VIP duties over the eradication of drugs in educational institutions as unlawful. The court noted that the Islamabad Police report didn't comply with the law.

The court summoned the Additional Inspector General (AIG) responsible for preparing the report to appear in person at the next hearing. The court remarked that the officer should explain why action should not be taken against him for his failure to perform duties as required by law.

Justice Inam Amin Minhas issued a written order regarding the hearing on the drug eradication case in the capital's educational institutions. The court emphasised that the police report submitted by the Additional IG suggested that VIP security duties are more sensitive and time-consuming, and the police are busy maintaining law and order.

The court noted that the Islamabad Police response indicated they were focused on VIP duties rather than addressing drug-related crimes in educational institutions.

The court described the police's lack of interest in tackling drug crime as incompetence, stating that the report was not legally valid.
