A four-year-old student was allegedly subjected to physical abuse by his teacher at a madrassa in Bata Pur after failing to memorise his lesson.
The police launched legal action following a complaint by the victim's father.
According to an official, the boy, Zulqarnain, suffered bruises on his face after the teacher, Waseem, reportedly beat him for not memorizing his lesson.
Family members alerted the police, but by the time personnel reached the scene, the suspect had fled.
"The child was traumatised, and his injuries were evident," said the police official.
"We have registered a case based on the father's complaint and are working to apprehend the suspect," he said.
A child rights activist called for stricter monitoring of educational centres to prevent abuse. "Corporal punishment is illegal, and those responsible must be held accountable," said a representative from a local non-governmental organization (NGO).
Meanwhile, Kahna police have arrested three suspects allegedly involved in the gang assault and robbery of a minor in Suleman village.
According to police officials, the arrested individuals identified as Babar, Nadeem and Qamar, reportedly lured 12-year-old Ali Hassan to a nearby field when the boy was on his way to a neighbor's house to deliver money.
After committing the assault, the accused allegedly robbed the child of Rs. 84,000 before fleeing.
Forensic evidence has been collected from the crime scene while medical reports confirmed the assault, with police intensifying patrols in the area and investigating potential links to other crimes.
