The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has strongly denied reports suggesting Chairman Mohsin Naqvi is stepping down from his role following his appointment as President of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC).

Rumours began circulating over the weekend across sports media and social platforms claiming Mohsin Naqvi, who recently became the ACC President, might resign from his position as PCB Chairman due to increased responsibilities.

However, the PCB issued a statement on Monday, categorically rejecting the claims. A senior official from the board termed the reports “baseless” and confirmed that Naqvi remains fully committed to his role.

“There is no truth to the reports about Mr. Naqvi’s resignation,” the official stated. “He continues to perform his duties as PCB Chairman and remains fully committed to the development of Pakistan cricket.”

Naqvi, who also serves as the Federal Minister for Interior, was elected unopposed as the ACC President earlier this month, becoming the first Pakistani to hold the post since 2008. His appointment was seen as a major boost for Pakistan’s influence in regional cricket.

The official further clarified that dual responsibilities in the PCB and ACC are not unprecedented and can be managed with effective time management.

“It is an honour for Pakistan that our representative is leading the ACC. Mr. Naqvi has no intention of stepping down from the PCB at this stage,” the statement added.

The PCB’s response comes after several reports speculated that Naqvi’s new leadership role at the ACC would force him to scale back his commitments at home.
