Karachi Kings head coach Ravi Bopara and assistant bowling coach Shaun Tait landed in Karachi on Monday as the franchise kicked off preparations for the 10th edition of the HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL), set to begin on April 11.
Bopara and Tait, confirmed earlier this year as part of the Kings’ revamped coaching staff, joined the squad ahead of their opening match on April 12 against Multan Sultans at the National Bank Stadium.
The Kings will begin training today at 5 PM at the Hanif Mohammad High Performance Centre, based at the National Bank Cricket Arena in Karachi.
Alongside the coaching arrivals, key national players including Hasan Ali, Abbas Afridi, and Arafat Minhas have also reported to camp as the 2020 champions aim to mount a strong campaign in HBL PSL 10.
Ravi Bopara, a former England all-rounder, is no stranger to the PSL. He represented Karachi Kings in 31 matches between 2016 and 2018 before brief stints with Multan Sultans in 2020 and Peshawar Zalmi in 2021.
The 10th edition of the HBL Pakistan Super League will feature six teams and 34 matches, running from April 11 to May 18. The tournament will open with defending champions Islamabad United taking on Lahore Qalandars at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.
Karachi Kings will play their first match a day later on home soil. Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium is set to host 13 matches, including both eliminators and the final.
