A bogie of the Allama Iqbal Express derailed near Kotri railway station on Saturday, temporarily disrupting rail services between Hyderabad and Karachi, officials said.
The incident occurred when the train, en route from Lahore to Karachi, experienced a technical fault near Kotri, causing its last carriage to detach and come off the track, Express News reported.
No casualties were reported.
The affected bogie was also separated from the rest of the train.
Railway authorities launched immediate restoration efforts, beginning work to reattach the bogie and repair the coupling mechanism.
“The down track has been impacted by the incident,” a railway spokesperson said.
“Trains travelling from Hyderabad to Kotri have been halted in Hyderabad as a precautionary measure.”
Repair work is expected to take two to three hours. Train services on the route will resume once safety inspections are completed.
