Weston Cage, the 34-year-old son of actor Nicolas Cage, was sentenced in Los Angeles on Wednesday for a felony assault charge involving an attack on his mother, Christina Fulton. Instead of prison time, Weston was ordered to complete a two-year mental health diversion program. Judge Enrique Monguia acknowledged that Weston’s mental health disorder played a significant role in the incident, stating it was evident he was experiencing a breakdown at the time.

Weston’s attorney, Michael A. Goldstein, explained that his client had already been seeking mental health treatment and expressed confidence that Weston’s rehabilitation would continue. Goldstein also emphasized that Weston had been making progress, both mentally and personally, including preparing for marriage. Fulton, who attended the hearing, supported her son’s rehabilitation over prison, telling the court, “Please help my son.”

Fulton also recounted the terrifying details of the April 2024 incident, during which she claimed Weston set fire to his apartment, then assaulted her by grabbing her hair, pulling her to an elevator, and allegedly "crushing" and "suffocating" her. She described the pain as excruciating and recalled nearly losing consciousness after Weston allegedly shoved his thumb into her eye socket. A friend of Weston’s intervened and saved her.

Following the sentencing, Fulton expressed her heartbreak to TMZ, stating that Weston had not apologized or shown remorse. Weston later posted a cryptic message on Instagram, asserting, “I am a man of honor.” His attorney and Fulton’s representative have been contacted for further comments.

The case has drawn significant attention, with Weston’s mental health struggles and his mother’s plea for help taking center stage.
