The match officials for the upcoming ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 Qualifier, scheduled in Pakistan from April 9 to 19, have been confirmed.
A total of 10 umpires and three match referees will oversee the six-team tournament, with two spots at the 2025 ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup up for grabs.
Pakistan will be represented by Faisal Khan Afridi and Saleema Imtiaz on the umpiring panel. Saleema, who made history last year by becoming the first Pakistani woman to join an ICC umpiring panel, expressed her hope that her success would inspire more women in Pakistan to pursue careers in cricket and umpiring.
The panel also includes officials from other countries, such as Masudur Rahman Mukul and Shatira Jakir Jesy from Bangladesh, Zimbabwe’s Sarah Dambanevana, South Africa’s Babs Gcuma and Shandre Fritz, Australia’s Donovan Koch, Sri Lanka’s Dedunu de Silva, New Zealand’s Shaun Haig, and West Indies' Candace la Borde.
Ali Naqvi (Pakistan), Shandre Fritz (South Africa), and Trudy Anderson (New Zealand) will serve as the match referees.
ICC’s Senior Manager for Umpires and Referees, Sean Easey, highlighted the importance of the tournament, noting that it would provide the match officials with a significant platform to demonstrate their expertise.
