RAWALPINDI:

Lashing out at the Adiala Jail administration for refusing to allow Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders to meet party founder Imran Khan despite a court order, the party leadership accused officials of contempt of court. They urged the judiciary to uphold its credibility and dignity by ensuring compliance with its rulings.

Speaking to the media outside Adiala Jail, Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly Omar Ayub Khan condemned the jail administration for disregarding the law and Constitution. He alleged that while visitors meeting convicted criminals were accommodated in the visitor center, PTI leaders were forced to wait outside.

Ayub highlighted that Paragraph 7 of the court order explicitly states that the jail superintendent must ensure meetings with Imran Khan. "We waited for four hours outside Adiala Jail, repeatedly notifying the administration, yet the superintendent refused to let us in at the behest of an intelligence agency's colonel," he claimed.

He criticized intelligence agencies for failing to address security concerns in Balochistan while interfering in political matters. "Their duty is to combat terrorism, yet people in Balochistan cannot move freely due to security threats. This is an intelligence failure," Ayub asserted.

PTI leader Shibli Faraz also denounced the jail administration's defiance, calling it a blatant contempt of court. "Not allowing us to meet Imran Khan is not just our insult; it is a direct violation of the court's order," he stated.

Senator Allama Raja Abbas Nasir alleged that the country was being deliberately pushed into turmoil. "Denying someone their rights is an injustice. The entire system is built on oppression, but we will not surrender or abandon our cause," he vowed.

Sunni Ittehad Council chief Sahibzada Hamid Raza sarcastically remarked that the three judges of the larger bench should be "congratulated" for the respect shown to their ruling by the jail administration. "We will not let this issue be brushed aside. It is alarming that the jail superintendent and a colonel hold more power than the judiciary," he said.

Meanwhile, PTI founder's spokesperson Niaz Ullah Niazi condemned the jail administration's actions, calling them a serious challenge to judicial authority. "By defying the court's order, they have raised a major question mark over the judiciary's credibility. We will file a contempt of court petition," he announced, adding that Imran Khan remains an essential figure for Pakistan's future.
