
The Sindh High Court dismissed National Accountability Board (NAB) appeals against the former chairman of Pakistan Steel Mills (PSM) and other accused after they were withdrawn by the bureau.
A bench headed by Justice Umar Sial and comprising Justice Hassan Akbar heard appeals filed by NAB in five references against the accountability court's decision.
The court dismissed the appeals after NAB withdrew its appeals. The appeals filed against the acquittal of the accused were withdrawn on the recommendation of the NAB board.
Former Chief Justice Iftikhar Chaudhry had taken suo motu notice of corruption in Pakistan Steel.
A total,12 references were filed against Chairman Pakistan Steel Moin Aftab, Samin Asghar and other accused.
In 2021, the accountability court acquitted all the accused.
NAB had filed appeals in 5 references against the decision of the accountability court.
On the behalf of the accused the case was followed by Shaukat Hayat, while on the NAB side Shahbaz Sahutra contested the case. Moin Aftab, Samin Asghar and others were accused of corruption worth billions of rupees.
