Kendrick Lamar may be bringing his electrifying stage presence to the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, according to Casey Wasserman, chairman of the Olympic organising committee.
During a recent interview with the Associated Press, Wasserman hinted that the Grammy-winning rapper is expected to be involved in some capacity when the Games take place in his hometown.
“Fortunately in my day job I represent Kendrick Lamar,” Wasserman said. “He is truly an L.A. icon, so I think it would be a pretty fair bet that Kendrick will be involved in the Olympics in Los Angeles in some way.” Though no specific details were provided, the comment has already sparked major buzz among fans and music industry insiders.

Lamar is currently enjoying a monumental run of success. He took home five Grammys in February for his Drake diss track “Not Like Us,” including awards for Best Rap Album and Best Rap Performance. Shortly after, he delivered a memorable Super Bowl LIX Halftime Show alongside SZA, where he performed part of the hit diss track live on one of the world’s biggest stages.
His potential involvement in the 2028 Summer Olympics adds yet another major accolade to a career filled with critical acclaim and cultural influence. This news arrives just ahead of the launch of his co-headlining “Grand National” tour with SZA, kicking off on 19 April in Minneapolis. The tour will span major U.S. cities including Atlanta, Houston, Los Angeles, and Chicago before heading internationally in July.
Lamar also made headlines recently for his verse on Playboi Carti’s new album MUSIC, where he subtly addressed ongoing industry controversies, including Drake’s legal battle with UMG.
As the countdown to the 2028 Games continues, fans are already eager to see how Kendrick’s involvement will reflect Los Angeles’ cultural identity on the global Olympic stage.
