ISLAMABAD:

A solo exhibition titled 'Mirror to the Soul', showcasing a collection of 60 sketches and paintings by Professor Zhao Yingming, was inaugurated at the Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA).

Professor Yingming, who is currently pursuing a PhD in Intangible Culture at the National University of Education, Pakistan, hails from a family with a remarkable 700-year artistic legacy. Demonstrating his artistic prowess, he created all 60 artworks within just two months.

United Nation's Resident Coordinator and Humanitarian Coordinator in Pakistan, Mohamed Yahya, inaugurated the exhibition along with M Ayoub Jamali, DG-PNCA, many notable dignitaries, artists and students. Amna I Pataudi and Rahat Naveed Masood curated the show.

The exhibition displays works from Professor Yingming's ongoing project, including pieces from its first phase and previews of upcoming work planned for Nepal, Pakistan, and China. Visitors will be able to view portraits of Pakistani artists among other subjects.

What distinguishes Professor Zhao's work is his exceptional ability to capture not merely the physical likeness of his subjects but the essence of their souls. His masterful technique demonstrates how a few deft strokes, subtle shading, and delicate colour palettes can powerfully evoke the spirit of the subject.

Yahya congratulated the artist Professor Yingming, the curators Amna Pataudi, Rahat Naveed Masud, and PNCA and acknowledged the power of art in strengthening the bond between Pakistan and China.

Speaking on the occasion, Yahya said that PNCA is indeed an amazing place for the people of Islamabad, offering a space for artistic expression, cultural exchange, and community engagement. The exhibition "Mirror to the Soul" is a shining example of this, and its success will undoubtedly inspire future collaborations between Pakistani and Chinese artists.
