Rebecca Gayheart has requested to dismiss her 2018 divorce petition from actor Eric Dane, marking a surprising turn in their long-running separation. According to People, Gayheart filed on March 6, 2025, to have the divorce petition dismissed without prejudice. Both she and Dane agreed to sign off on the documents.

The couple, who met in 2003 and married a year later in Las Vegas, had been together for 14 years before their separation in 2018. At the time, Dane announced that they had decided to end their marriage for the sake of their family, with a strong focus on co-parenting their two daughters, Billie and Georgia.

Gayheart initially cited irreconcilable differences in her divorce petition and sought joint legal and physical custody of their children, in addition to spousal support. Despite the long gap in proceedings, with the couple receiving court warnings about delays, they have maintained a positive co-parenting relationship.

In recent years, Gayheart and Dane have been spotted together on vacations in France and Cabo, suggesting that they have continued to maintain a friendly bond. However, their marriage has had its ups and downs, including a leaked video in 2007 and Dane’s rehab stint in 2011 for pain medication dependency. Dane has spoken openly about the impact of his struggles on Gayheart, acknowledging her support.

With the divorce petition dismissed, it appears the former couple is navigating a new chapter, balancing their family dynamic and their ongoing friendship.
