ISLAMABAD:

During a special conversation regarding the privatisation of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA), Federal Minister for Privatisation, Board of Investment, and Communications Abdul Aleem Khan has assured that all concerns of interested parties in the privatisation of the national flag carrier have been addressed effectively. According to a press statement released on Thursday, the government has decided to make necessary adjustments in line with investors' preferences to facilitate the sale of the airline.

"To make PIA's privatisation more attractive, a new roadmap is being introduced, with all stages of the process expected to be completed within the next three months," the minister stated. He emphasised that expressions of interest from investors are expected to rise significantly as the reintroduction of PIA flights to Europe has created a more lucrative and favourable environment for privatisation.

Highlighting recent developments, the federal minister said that due to recent measures, the national carrier is now on the path to profitability. He also announced that after the resumption of flights to Europe, PIA will begin operating flights to the United Kingdom within the next three months. Following these developments, the airline plans to expand its operations to the United States and the Far East in the next phase.

Reaffirming the government's commitment to restoring PIA's credibility, Aleem Khan underscored that the airline remains the top choice for travel for Pakistan's 240 million citizens. He expressed confidence that with these positive steps, PIA would regain its past prominence.
