Glastonbury Festival has officially announced its 2024 headliners: Olivia Rodrigo, The 1975, and Neil Young.
The British festival, renowned for its wide array of musical acts, will see The 1975 take the stage on Friday, June 27, followed by Neil Young on Saturday, June 28, and Olivia Rodrigo closing out the festival on Sunday, June 29. These artists will join Rod Stewart, who was previously revealed to be playing the festival’s prestigious "legends slot."
The announcement on Thursday comes after a brief controversy earlier this year when Neil Young declared he would boycott the festival due to BBC’s “corporate control.” However, Young reversed his stance shortly after, confirming his participation. This year’s lineup features several other big names, including Charli XCX, Weezer, Raye, Doechii, Gracie Abrams, St. Vincent, and many more.
The 1975, known for their genre-blending music, will be headlining Glastonbury for the first time. Their frontman, Matty Healy, is known for his controversial stage antics, including a recent incident where he kissed a bandmate during a show in Malaysia, which sparked legal issues over the country's anti-LGBT laws.
Olivia Rodrigo, one of the biggest breakout stars of the 2020s, will be the second-youngest artist ever to headline Glastonbury, after Billie Eilish. Rodrigo’s set will feature hits from her albums SOUR and Guts, including tracks like “Good 4 U” and “Driver’s License.”
Charli XCX, a rising star in the UK pop scene, will headline the Other Stage on Saturday, June 28, further solidifying her place in the spotlight.
Next year, Glastonbury will take a fallow year to allow Worthy Farm to recover, making this year’s edition even more highly anticipated.
