Meghan Markle’s half-brother slams her childhood portrayal in Netflix show

Meghan Markle’s half-brother, Thomas Markle Jr., has publicly disputed claims she made about her childhood in her new Netflix series, "With Love, Meghan."

The series, which premiered Tuesday, features the Duchess of Sussex sharing hosting and cooking tips while reflecting on her upbringing. Markle, 43, described herself as a "latchkey kid" who grew up eating fast food and TV tray dinners. She also recalled frequenting budget-friendly restaurants such as Pollo Loco, Taco Bell, and Sizzler.

However, Thomas Markle Jr., who has been estranged from Meghan for over a decade, dismissed these claims as "malarkey stories." Speaking to TalkTV, he refuted the idea that their family struggled financially, stating, "We weren’t poor. She didn’t have to rub two nickels together at Sizzler’s salad bar."

Markle Jr. also criticized his sister’s portrayal of family dynamics, alleging she has misrepresented their upbringing for sympathy. "The entire world knows how she treated her family, especially her father, who gave her everything. That’s why nobody’s buying it," he said.

Despite watching part of the show, he admitted he soon lost interest. "Everybody’s going to watch the first episode, and it’ll be the worst critically acclaimed episode of all time," he added.

The eight-episode Netflix series, produced by Meghan and Prince Harry’s Archewell Productions, highlights her passion for cooking, which she calls her "love language." However, Thomas Markle Jr. countered that claim, stating, "She didn’t cook anything for anybody ever growing up."
