Twitch streamer and OTK member Matthew "Mizkif" recently shared a harrowing experience involving a stalker who followed him and fellow streamer Emiru to their home.
The incident, which Mizkif discussed on his March 3 stream, highlights the growing concerns over streamer safety and the lack of legal protection against stalkers.
According to Mizkif, the stalker arrived at his house, banged on the door, and repeatedly asked for Emiru. In response, Mizkif armed himself, stating, "I pulled a gun on a viewer because he showed up to my house… If he stepped in my house, I would have shot him."
The streamer called the police, but he expressed frustration over their inaction, saying, "They don’t do sht."* He pointed out how many female content creators face similar threats with little legal recourse, adding, "It's not enough to say, ‘We’re sending this guy home.’ There’s not a lot they can do."
This revelation comes shortly after Emiru, Valkyrae, and Cinna were targeted by a stream sniper who threatened to kill them live on air. The incident forced the trio to cancel their marathon stream, further underscoring the dangers faced by online creators.
As concerns over streamer safety continue to rise, Mizkif’s experience adds to the ongoing conversation about the need for stricter laws and better protections against harassment in the digital space.
