UAE has introduced several new visa initiatives to simplify the process for residents, visitors, and those seeking long-term residency in the city.

The changes, which include new residence permits and an AI-powered visa application platform, are designed to attract global talent and enhance Dubai’s status as a hub for innovation and sustainability.

1) The Blue Visa Launched

The UAE’s newly launched Blue Visa offers a 10-year residence permit aimed at individuals who have made significant contributions to the environment, both inside and outside the UAE. First announced in May 2024, the Blue Visa officially launched in February 2025.

This visa is available to environmental supporters, international organisation members, global award winners, and distinguished researchers. It extends the existing UAE golden visa system and green residency permits.

2) Influencers to Get Golden Visa Support

Content creators, including influencers, photographers, and writers, are now eligible for the Golden Visa through the newly launched Creators HQ.

Announced following the 1 Billion Followers Summit in January 2025, the initiative will assist up to 10,000 online personalities in obtaining long-term residency. The programme aims to support those with proven creative impact and potential to contribute to Dubai’s thriving creative community.

3) AI-Assisted Visa Applications

Dubai has introduced Salama, an AI-powered digital platform to streamline the visa application and renewal process.

The platform, launched on February 24, 2025, enables residents to renew their Dubai visas within minutes, offering a faster and more efficient service. Salama also allows for the cancellation of residency and answers to various visa-related queries.

4) Golden Visa for Teachers

In honour of World Teachers' Day 2024, Dubai introduced a new Golden Visa for exceptional educators. The visa recognises outstanding contributions to the private education sector and will be available to those who have demonstrated significant impact in improving education quality.

Criteria for eligibility include a proven track record in raising education standards and contributing to the educational community.

5) Faster Work Visa Process

In a bid to reduce bureaucracy, the UAE government has introduced a streamlined work visa process. Announced in the summer of 2024, the new work visa bundle reduces the application time from one month to just five days.

Additionally, the number of required documents has been reduced from 16 to just five, making it easier and quicker for workers to obtain residency permits.

These new measures aim to make it easier for people from around the world to live, work, and contribute to the UAE’s dynamic economy.
