Landslides block Karakoram Highway

According to police, continued heavy rainfall is increasing the risk of further landslides

SHANGLA:

The Karakoram Highway has been completely blocked at two locations due to landslides, leaving hundreds of passengers, including women, children and the elderly, stranded.

The affected stretches, from Shatial and Summer Nullah to Dasu, have been impassable since last night.

According to police, continued heavy rainfall is increasing the risk of further landslides, making road clearance efforts more challenging. Authorities have urged the public to avoid unnecessary travel due to hazardous conditions.

Passengers travelling from Gilgit to Rawalpindi are facing severe difficulties as landslides near Dasu have completely halted traffic on the highway.
