Adrien Brody and Halle Berry recreated their iconic 2003 Oscars kiss at the 2025 Academy Awards, and Brody’s longtime girlfriend, Georgina Chapman, had no objections.
Chapman, 48, who has been dating Brody for nearly five years, laughed off the viral red carpet moment. Speaking to Extra, she said, "I mean, how can you deny a man a kiss with Halle Berry?" Berry, 58, had jokingly asked Chapman’s permission before planting a kiss on Brody, 51, as they reunited on the red carpet.
Berry later shared a clip of the moment on Instagram, writing, "Surpriseee @adrienbrody!! I had to get some payback." The Oscars’ official social media also posted the viral exchange, which quickly gained traction online.
The night was a major success for Brody, who won his second career Oscar for The Brutalist, where he portrayed a Hungarian-born Holocaust survivor and architect. In his acceptance speech, Brody thanked Chapman and her children, Dash and India, saying, "Thank you for accepting me into your life, and Popsie’s coming home a winner."
Brody won Best Actor over Timothée Chalamet (A Complete Unknown), Colman Domingo (Sing Sing), Ralph Fiennes (Conclave), and Sebastian Stan (The Apprentice). His heartfelt speech and red carpet moment with Berry made him one of the night's most talked-about stars.
