Krysten Ritter, known for her iconic roles in Jessica Jones and Orphan Black: Echoes, is set to join Showtime's upcoming drama Dexter: Resurrection.
The new chapter in the life of serial killer Dexter Morgan, portrayed by Michael C. Hall, will feature Ritter in a high-profile guest arc. She will play Mia Lapierre, a famed sommelier who may be concealing a dark, murderous secret.
Ritter’s casting news comes as a surprise following rumors earlier this week about her involvement in Daredevil: Born Again. Fans speculated she could reprise her role as Jessica Jones after Marvel Studios exec Brad Winderbaum mentioned the potential return of other Defenders characters, similar to Charlie Cox’s role in Daredevil: Born Again. However, Ritter confirmed that her New York trip is for Dexter: Resurrection, not Marvel’s series.
Dexter: Resurrection began filming in New York last month and will see the return of Hall as the titular character, alongside a new ensemble cast that includes David Zayas, James Remar, Jack Alcott, Uma Thurman, Peter Dinklage, and others. The series is set for a summer premiere on Paramount+ with Showtime, and it is executive produced by Clyde Phillips, who also serves as the showrunner. Other executive producers include Hall, Scott Reynolds, Tony Hernandez, and Lilly Burns, with Marcos Siega directing six episodes and Monica Raymund helming four.
Ritter’s recent projects include Orphan Black: Echoes and Love & Death on Max, while her second novel, Retreat, is scheduled for release on March 25. She is represented by CAA, Industry Entertainment, and Brecheen Feldman Breimer Silver Thompson.
