Gypsy-Rose Blanchard is opening up about her journey into motherhood, sharing the details of her daughter Aurora Raina’s birth ahead of Gypsy Rose: Life After Lock Up season 2, premiering March 10 on Lifetime.
In an exclusive interview with PEOPLE, Blanchard revealed that her original birthing plan changed when Aurora arrived earlier than expected. “She was a little early,” she said, explaining that she started dilating at 34 weeks and was closely monitored by her doctor. The plan was to induce labor on January 16, but Aurora had other plans.
“At 36 weeks and three days, my water partially broke, and by the time I got to the hospital, I was five and a half, six centimeters dilated,” she recalled. “They said, ‘Okay, we’re delivering.’”
Blanchard received an epidural and Pitocin, and the delivery progressed quickly. “I didn’t feel anything—no screaming, no nothing. We just pushed, and within 15 minutes, she was born.”
Aurora’s birth coincided with a significant milestone—exactly one year after Blanchard was released from Chillicothe Correctional Facility, where she served eight years for her role in her mother’s murder. Now, as she looks forward to the end of her parole in June, she is embracing motherhood.
“Getting to watch her grow and see her personality develop over time is the best part,” she said. “It’s exciting—the newness of each thing.”
Gypsy Rose: Life After Lock Up season 2 premieres Monday, March 10 at 9 p.m. ET on Lifetime.
