Grammy-winning producer Andrew Watt recently shared a surreal moment from his career, recalling the time Beatles legend Paul McCartney personally taught him how to play Blackbird during a visit to his home.
Speaking on The Howard Stern Show, Watt described the encounter, saying, “Holy s%!t, I have no leftie guitars!” as McCartney demonstrated the iconic acoustic riff.
Beyond working with rock royalty, Watt is also at the helm of Elton John and Brandi Carlile’s highly anticipated collaborative album, Who Believes In Angels?, set for release on April 4 via Island EMI Records. The album was created in just 20 days at Sunset Sound Studios, featuring a world-class band including Chad Smith (Red Hot Chili Peppers), Pino Palladino (Nine Inch Nails), and Josh Klinghoffer (Pearl Jam).
Elton John called the record “one of the greatest musical experiences of my life”, describing it as a fresh chapter in his career. Brandi Carlile echoed his sentiment, saying the process felt like working with family. A behind-the-scenes documentary capturing the intense recording sessions—including creative breakthroughs and emotional moments—offers fans unprecedented insight into their artistic process.
The album blends ballads, rock, country, and psychedelia, pushing both artists into new creative territory. With standout tracks like “The Rose of Laura Nyro”, “Never Too Late”, and the title track “Who Believes In Angels?”, this collaboration is poised to be one of the most exciting releases of 2025.
