All Creatures Great and Small begins filming season 6 in Yorkshire

All Creatures Great and Small has begun filming, with the cast returning to Darrowby for new heartwarming adventures.

The official Instagram page of All Creatures Great and Small (ACGAS) shared exciting news with fans on Monday, revealing that filming for Season 6 has officially begun in Yorkshire.

A post accompanying a photo of a clapperboard read: "Attention #ACGAS fans. Exciting news – the cast and crew have officially kicked off filming for Season 6 in beautiful Yorkshire today! We can’t wait to return to Darrowby with all of you soon." Fans quickly flooded the comments section to express their excitement, with many looking forward to the new season’s release.

While a specific release date has not yet been revealed, based on the previous seasons' schedules, viewers can expect the upcoming episodes to premiere in the autumn. The show, which is based on James Herriot’s beloved collection of short stories, is set in the 1940s and follows the life of a veterinary surgeon working in the picturesque Yorkshire Dales.

Season 5 left off with James returning home from RAF training due to his brucellosis diagnosis, reuniting with his wife Helen and their baby son, Jimmy. Other characters, including Mrs. Hall, Richard Carmody, and Siegfried Farnon, had significant storylines involving personal growth and new challenges.

Details about Season 6’s plot are still under wraps, but the cast has expressed their enthusiasm about returning to work. Rachel Shenton, who portrays Helen, noted that the close relationships among the cast members enhance their on-screen performances. Nicholas Ralph, who plays James, echoed her sentiments, highlighting the joy of working together for nearly five years.

The talented ensemble cast also includes Samuel West as Siegfried, Anna Madeley as Mrs. Hall, Callum Woodhouse as Tristan Farnon, and Patricia Hodge as Mrs. Pumphrey. Fans can look forward to more heartwarming moments when the new season airs later this year.
