Amazon MGM Studios and Reese Witherspoon’s Hello Sunshine have officially cast Lexi Minetree (The Murdaugh Murders) as the young Elle Woods in the highly anticipated Legally Blonde prequel series.
As first reported by Deadline, Minetree emerged as one of the final contenders for the iconic role originally played by Witherspoon in Legally Blonde (2001) and its sequel Legally Blonde 2: Red, White & Blonde (2003). Witherspoon personally revealed the casting announcement on social media earlier today.
“Allow me to introduce you to the new Elle Woods! After watching so many incredible auditions for the new Elle prequel series on @PrimeVideo, we finally found our Elle. And today, I got to break the news myself! Meet @leximinetree,” Witherspoon shared.
The upcoming series, Elle, will follow a teenage Elle Woods as she navigates high school, shaping the vibrant, ambitious young woman fans fell in love with in the original Legally Blonde films.
Laura Kittrell (High School, Insecure) serves as co-showrunner and executive producer alongside Caroline Dries. The production team includes Reese Witherspoon, Lauren Neustadter, Lauren Kisilevsky, and Marc Platt.
Minetree is represented by Stewart Talent, Framework, and Jackoway, Austen, Tyerman. The Legally Blonde prequel is set to stream exclusively on Prime Video, with more casting announcements expected soon.
