Sean "Diddy" Combs’ legal team is undergoing changes as his attorney, Anthony Ricco, filed a motion to withdraw from the case, stating he can no longer effectively represent the embattled music mogul.
According to a Manhattan federal court filing, Ricco wrote, "Under no circumstances can I continue to effectively serve as counsel for Sean Combs." The high-profile attorney was one of six defense lawyers representing Diddy amid his mounting legal issues. His removal from the case is pending judicial approval.
Diddy, 55, faces serious allegations, including racketeering and sex trafficking by force. Prosecutors claim he operated a criminal enterprise under "The Combs Enterprise," involving Bad Boy Entertainment and Combs Global, using his businesses to facilitate illicit activities. Court documents detail alleged abuse spanning years, including coercion and physical assault.
In addition to the federal indictment, Diddy is entangled in more than 100 civil lawsuits. His scheduled court appearance this week was postponed, reportedly following a recent hospitalization. Currently, he remains in custody at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn.
The high-profile case continues to draw public attention, especially following the recent withdrawal of a civil lawsuit against Diddy and Jay-Z by an Alabama woman who accused them of sexual assault. As legal proceedings unfold, the music mogul maintains his plea of not guilty to all charges.
Further developments in the case are expected as the court reviews Ricco’s request to step down from the defense team.
