'Love Island USA's' Vasana Montgomery apologises after exit over rascial slur
Vasana Montgomery apologises after resurfaced N-slur videos led to removal from 'Love Island USA' season 8

Vasana Montgomery has issued a public apology after being removed from Love Island USA season 8 following the resurfacing of videos showing her using a racial slur during her teenage years.
The reality television contestant addressed the controversy in a statement after the videos circulated online ahead of the programme's premiere.
“I want to address a couple videos from my teen years that have recently resurfaced,” Vasana said. “In those videos, I used a racial slur. There is no excuse for it, and I am deeply sorry.”
Montgomery acknowledged the impact of her past remarks and accepted responsibility for her actions.
“I am embarrassed and disappointed by my words,” Vasana admitted. “I take full responsibility for what I said and understand why it has hurt and upset people.”
Addressing the time that has passed since the recordings were made, Montgomery said she has changed and taken steps to better understand the consequences of her language.
“Since then, I have grown a lot as a person and taken the time to educate myself, listen, learn, and better understand the impact that language can have,” Vasana said.
“I believe people accountable for their actions, but I also believe in growth, learning, and becoming better,” she said.
The controversy emerged before Love Island USA season 8 premiered, leading to her reported departure from the cast.
Montgomery has not commented further beyond the statement addressing the resurfaced footage and the reaction it generated online.
