Did Jackie Chan’s stunt team work on ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’? Destin Daniel Cretton sets the record straight

Destin Daniel Cretton has clarified reports about Jackie Chan’s involvement in the action sequences for Spider-Man: Brand New Day’, stating that Chan’s stunt team did not work on the Marvel film.

Speaking with TheWrap, Cretton addressed the persistent claim that Chan’s stunt team was responsible for the film’s fight choreography.

While Chan did visit the London set, Cretton said the movie’s stunts were handled by Peng Zhang, who studied under the late stunt coordinator Brad Allan.

“Jackie Chan’s stunt team did not work on the movie,” Cretton told TheWrap. “Chan did visit the set, but the stunts were handled by Peng Zhang, who studied under the late, great Brad Allan.”

According to the report, Allan had a connection to both Chan and Cretton and previously served as second unit director on Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, his final film before his death.

Zhang worked with Allan on the Marvel project and later brought that experience to Brand New Day.

The confusion reportedly followed comments Chan made to Hong Kong outlet HK01 about visiting the film’s London set.

Chan said his stunt team was “busy filming Spider-Man” and that he served as their action director.

Cretton’s comments provide clarification about the production while highlighting the martial arts influence behind the film’s action choreography.
