Paris Hilton defends ‘Beauty and the Beast’ Halloween costumes after criticism
Hilton said her children chose their favourite characters from the Disney film, prompting fans to defend the family

Paris Hilton has responded to criticism of her family’s Beauty and the Beast Halloween costumes, explaining that her daughter, London, chose her outfit because Chip is her favourite character.
The reality star shared a family portrait on Tuesday, October 27, showing herself dressed as Belle from Disney’s 1991 animated film. Her daughter London appeared as Chip, the enchanted teacup, while her son Phoenix dressed as Lumière, the castle’s friendly candelabra.
Although the costumes paid tribute to the beloved film, some social media users questioned why Hilton had dressed as the story’s central character while her children portrayed supporting roles.
The discussion gained attention after an Instagram user shared a video about people mistaking London’s costume for Mrs Potts, Chip’s mother. Hilton responded in the comments, clarifying that the costume reflected her daughter’s own preference.
“Beauty and the Beast is one of their favorite movies,” Hilton wrote, according to Parade. She explained that London had specifically requested to dress as Chip because the character was her favourite in the film.
Her explanation prompted supportive responses from fans, many of whom praised the family for allowing the children to choose their own costumes. Some commenters highlighted Chip’s popularity among young viewers, while others said the outfits were adorable.
The exchange offered a reminder that the family’s Halloween theme was based on a shared favourite film, with each child choosing a character they enjoyed.
Hilton also shared another Halloween look earlier in the week, paying tribute to her longtime friend Britney Spears. She recreated Spears’ outfit from the singer’s 2001 MTV appearance, continuing her series of celebrity-inspired seasonal costumes.
