Information Minister Attaullah Tarar on Thursday threatened legal action against those protesting and running social media campaigns against Chief of Army Staff Gen Asim Munir's (COAS) visit to the United Kingdom.
Gen Munir's official visit marked his attendance at the 7th Regional Stabilisation Conference at the Royal Military Academy, Sandhurst, where he delivered keynote address on "The Emerging World Order and Pakistan's Future Outlook."
The Regional Stabilisation Conference is an annual platform that facilitates army-to-army dialogue between Pakistan and the UK, with participation from civil and military policymakers as well as key think-tanks from both countries.
Tarar said the entire world recognizes the professional capabilities of the Pakistan Army, including its officers and cadets. However, it seems that the tribute and honor given to the Army chief have unsettled the "Tehreek-e-Inteshar."
"It is similar to how they are stunned by Pakistan's progress under the leadership of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif," he added.
He emphasized that the law will take its course, and action will be taken against those harming Pakistan's national interests.
Tarar stated that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) is visibly disturbed by the recognition and respect accorded to Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Asim Munir during his visit to the United Kingdom at the prestigious Royal Military Academy Sandhurst.
During the visit, a guard of honor was presented to the Army Chief, and Pakistan's national anthem was played by the Royal Band at Sandhurstan event that, according to Tarar, further elevated Pakistan's global standing.
Speaking to the media, the minister said that the people of Pakistan had reaffirmed their respect for the country and its armed forces by rejecting PTI's social media campaign against them.
"This same group of miscreants also attempted to disrupt the flow of remittances through social media, but overseas Pakistanis, being responsible citizens, continued to support the country and express their loyalty," he said.
Tarar accused the PTI founder of masterminding every anti-Pakistan move and working against national interests. He alleged that a group of miscreants targeted military installations, burned Jinnah House in Lahore, and even desecrated memorials of martyrs who sacrificed their lives for Pakistan's security.
He further claimed that video evidence exists proving PTI's involvement in the May 9 incidents.
"When they tried to attack Pakistan's defense, they were essentially fulfilling the enemy's dreaman enemy that has never dared to attack Pakistan in this manner," he remarked.
Referring to the PTI founder's past statements, Tarar alleged that he facilitated the return of terrorists to Pakistan.
"He openly supported terrorists, as seen in his speeches on international media, where he referred to them as 'good people' and talked about bringing them back to resettle in Pakistan," the minister said.
"Would it not be correct to say that the current terrorism issues stem from the PTI founder, who altered state policy to resettle these individuals?" Tarar questioned.
