Rawalpindi police have arrested three suspected kidnappers and recovered three Afghan nationals, including a woman and her two sons, within 24 hours of their abduction.
A police spokesman confirmed the family was abducted under the pretext of offering them a visa to a European country. Saddar Wah Police launched an operation and managed to safely recover the victims, who were all foreign nationals.
“The three victims were an Afghan woman and her two sons. They were safely recovered within 24 hours of their abduction,” the police spokesman said.
Upon receiving information about the abduction, City Police Officer (CPO) Syed Khalid Hamdani ordered an immediate investigation and the safe recovery of the abducted family. Special teams, led by the Potohar Superintendent of Police, were formed to apprehend the suspects.
Using CCTV footage, human intelligence, and technical methods, the police were able to trace and arrest the suspects during a raid. “The suspects will be charged with solid evidence and given exemplary punishment,” CPO Hamdani stated.
The incident follows other high-profile abduction cases. In April 2024, a staffer from the Swiss embassy and five others were held hostage in Islamabad for six hours and forced to withdraw money from an ATM.
