Peaky Blinders movie wraps production as creator Steven Knight teases future of franchise

Peaky Blinders movie wraps filming, with Steven Knight praising the cast and hinting at the franchise’s continuation.

Production on the highly anticipated Peaky Blinders feature film has officially concluded, with creator Steven Knight teasing that the story may not be over just yet.

Knight confirmed on BBC Breakfast that filming wrapped on Dec. 13, 2024, and that post-production is now underway. “We’re putting it together now,” he said. “I would say this, wouldn’t I? But it’s fantastic. We’ve got the best, I think, the best British actors all in one place, including Stephen [Graham].”

Speaking about the footage so far, Knight expressed confidence in the film’s quality. “The stuff that I’m watching – the rushes, the assemblies – no one will be disappointed. It is quite an incredible thing,” he added. “It’s a very fitting way to end this part of the Peaky story.”

While the film is expected to serve as a conclusion to the original Peaky Blinders series, Knight hinted that the franchise will continue in some capacity. “This part, yes,” he said when asked if the story was ending. “I’m not allowed to announce it, but I’m just saying that the world of Peaky will continue.”

The upcoming movie, written by Knight, features Cillian Murphy reprising his role as Tommy Shelby. Barry Keoghan is also among the cast. The project is being produced by Knight, Patrick Holland, Murphy, and Guy Heeley, with BBC Film involved in the production.

Beyond Peaky Blinders, Knight has a busy slate, including the release of his new drama A Thousand Blows, premiering this Friday on Disney+ in the U.K. and Hulu in the U.S.
