Karachi police on Monday arrested one of two robbers involved in a robbery attempt in city's Gulistan-e-Johar Block 13 area on Monday morning.
According to the police, two motorcyclists were caught in the act of robbing citizens when law enforcement arrived at the scene. Upon noticing the police, the robbers attempted to flee. The police pursued them, and during the chase, a police vehicle collided with the robbers’ motorcycle, causing both criminals to fall.
One of the robbers dropped a bag filled with stolen mobile phones and cash, which the police seized. While one robber managed to escape on foot, the second sought refuge in a nearby apartment in Gulistan-e-Johar's Block 13.
After a one-hour search operation, the police located and apprehended the second robber, who had been hiding inside an apartment.
The apprehended suspect was subjected to severe public beating by citizens present at the scene, prompting the police to fire warning shots to disperse the crowd. The suspect was later transferred to the police station.
The arrested robber was identified as Sabir, while his accomplice has been named as Khair Muhammad. From the seized bag, the police recovered 12 stolen mobile phones and a weapon.
The police are continuing efforts to locate the fleeing suspect and are conducting further investigations with the arrested individual.
Local residents reported that the robbers had been carrying out several robberies in the area before the police intervened.
