The Punjab government, under Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif's vision for a "Safe Punjab," is advancing its efforts to combat Katcha dacoits (outlaws) and extremists with significant upgrades in equipment and resources.

The Punjab Police have entered the final stages of acquiring over 50 modern telecommunication devices, set to enhance the operational capabilities of the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) and Border Area Police.

Along with this, the government has initiated the purchase of 25 bulletproof vehicles for the department.

Additionally, the police will acquire 26 advanced thermal surveillance solutions and rifle scopes, aimed at providing a tactical edge in confronting hostile forces. More than 60 drones equipped with cutting-edge technology are also part of the ongoing procurement process.

Punjab Police’s Inspector General (IG), Dr. Usman Anwar, emphasized that the police are fully committed to dealing with kacha dacoits and extremists in the region.

"We will not rest until we have brought these criminals to justice," Anwar said, noting that provincial police forces are reinforcing border checkposts and upgrading security with thermal cameras and modern technology.

The IG also highlighted the bravery of Punjab's officers, who have been bravely defending against extremist attacks in areas like Dera Ghazi Khan and Mianwali.

He confirmed that the crackdown against kachey dacoits and other hostile elements remains a priority for Punjab law enforcement.

"We are steadfast in our mission to eliminate these threats and ensure the safety of our people," IG Anwar concluded.
