Seven-day physical remand ordered for accused

The accused in the Mustafa Amir murder case has said in his statement to police that the victim was first tortured, then beaten and taken to Hub in his car. The Anti-Terrorism Court handed over the accused Shiraz to police on a seven-day physical remand.

The police had presented the accused Shiraz before the Anti-Terrorism Court of Karachi. The court asked the accused whether the police had beaten him. The accused said that the police did not beat him.

The court sought details from the accused. In response, the accused said he had gone to Armaghan's house in Defence where they had an argument. Armaghan is reportedly the main suspect. Mustafa was beaten severely and taken to Hub.

The court handed over the accused to the police on physical remand till February 21 and sought a progress report on the next hearing. On the other hand, the mother of the deceased Mustafa Amir filed an application for permission to exhume the body of the deceased. The special court remarked that she should approach the court of the concerned judicial magistrate. The concerned magistrate has the authority to issue orders on exhumation and other matters. Meanwhile, the father of accused Armaghan created a ruckus in the special anti-terrorism court. He not only created a ruckus but also tried to enter the chamber of the judge. The father of the accused, Kamran Qureshi said he wanted to talk to the judge, and asked the security to tell the judge he wanted to meet the judge.

Kamran Qureshi verbally abused the court police and said that he is an American citizen. Kamran Qureshi pushed and abused police constable Rizwan. Police and Rangers were called due to the noise of the accused's father.

Meanwhile, SHO of Darakhshan, south zone, Abdul Rashid, the SIO Darakhshan Zulfiqar, and the Investigation Officer (IO) ASI Iftikhar Ali Awan have been suspended, and departmental action has been ordered against them in connection with the abduction of a young man from Defence and the flawed investigation.
