A scuffle broke out between senior PTI leaders Fawad Chaudhry and Barrister Shoaib Shaheen outside Adiala Jail, leading to a heated exchange of slaps and insults, sources said Friday.
According to insiders, Shoaib Shaheen later approached PTI founder Imran Khan in court to complain about the incident, alleging that Fawad had physically assaulted him at Jail Gate No. 5.
During the hearing, Shaheen confronted Imran in Fawad's presence, even showing an injury on his hand as proof.
"I was physically attacked at Jail Gate No. 5," Shaheen reportedly told Imran.
However, after briefly acknowledging the complaint, Imran deflected the conversation, asking about the status of a human rights petition. His response suggested little interest in addressing the issue.
Eyewitnesses confirmed that Fawad Chaudhry slapped Shoaib Shaheen during their argument, causing him to fall and sustain injuries on his arm.
Verbal abuse was exchanged, with Fawad reportedly accusing Shaheen of being an "agency operative," to which Shaheen retorted, "Mind your own business".
The jail staff had to intervene to break up the fight. Following the altercation, Fawad entered the jail premises while Shaheen remained outside nursing his injuries.
PTI lawyer Nadia Khattak, who witnessed the scuffle, criticised Fawad's actions. "Whatever the differences, they should be verbal, not physical. It was completely inappropriate," she remarked.
She expressed relief that Shaheen did not suffer a major injury, saying, "Thankfully, no bones were broken. He got up with only a hand injury".
