Man held for killing niece for 'honour'

According to the police, the main accused involved in the incident is being investigated.

Police have arrested a man who allegedly killed his 17-year-old niece for honour in the Jalti area.

According to the initial investigation, the accused identified as Waseem killed his niece Naleen Zahra by poisoning her, buried the body and pretended to make the incident appear to be a natural death.

On receiving information of the mysterious death of the victim, Rawalpindi City Police Officer (CPO) Syed Khalid Hamdani took notice and ordered immediate legal action.

Police investigators led by the Saddar SP exhumed the body and conducted a post-mortem examination which led to the revelations. A murder case was registered on behalf of the state.

According to the police, the main accused involved in the incident is being investigated. The accomplices and facilitators of the accused will also be arrested. The accused will be challaned with solid evidence.

According to the CPO, by registering a case in the police complaint, the message has been sent that the Rawalpindi police own the victim.
