The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Saturday summoned the Secretary of the Ministry of Interior (MoI) in person regarding a case challenging the inclusion of the entire family of citizen Faizan Usman in the Exit Control List (ECL) after his recovery.
The court instructed the secretary to appear and explain which authority was used to include their names in the ECL. The court also directed intelligence agencies to submit, in a sealed envelope, any material or report proving the petitioners' alleged ties to ISIS (Islamic State of Iraq and Syria).
Justice Babar Sattar's court issued a written order on the petition filed by Dr Usman Khan and his family.
The order stated that the MoI had been instructed to submit a report but failed to do so. The record regarding the inclusion of names in the ECL, which had been requested in a sealed envelope, was also not presented.
The Section Officer (SO) of the MoI appeared and informed the court that the names were included in the ECL based on the recommendation of the Cabinet's subcommittee.
