In a horrific incident a man murdered his four children before committing suicide in Swabi district of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa on Thursday.
The incident occurred in the limits of Yar Hussain police station in Swabi, where a man, frustrated with his wife's refusal to reconcile, brutally killed his four minor children with a knife and then took his own life.
According to a police report, 42-year-old Saiful Islam, a resident of Urmal Mira, was a tailor by profession and was married to a woman from Yar Hussain.
The couple had two sons and two daughters.
However, their marriage was troubled by frequent domestic disputes, often leading to the wife leaving for her parents' house. Each time, reconciliation was sought through a jirga.
Last week, after another dispute, the wife once again left for her parents' home. A jirga was convened to mediate, but this time, she refused to return, stating that she was unhappy in the marriage.
Enraged and frustrated, Saif brutally murdered his four children, including 12-year-old Ziaul Islam, 10-year-old Abdul Rehman, eight-year-old daughter Sana, and two-year-old daughter Mini, with a knife. He then shot himself with a pistol, ending his own life too.
Police received information about the incident on Thursday morning and rushed to the scene, where they found the bodies of five family members.
A medical team from Rescue 1122 service shifted the bodies to the Yar Hussain Hospital for post-mortem.
Police recovered the knife and pistol used in the crime and have registered an FIR, launching an investigation into the incident.
The funeral of the five family members was held, leaving the community in deep shock and mourning over the tragic incident.
