Former Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Kadarius Toney was reportedly arrested last week on charges of aggravated assault and obstruction of a 911 call.

According to police documents obtained by TMZ Sports, Toney allegedly strangled a woman during a dispute at a Georgia residence on January 14.

The victim claims Toney put his hand around her throat and applied pressure, leaving her unable to breathe. Medical professionals reported that she suffered red marks on her neck and petechial hemorrhaging in her eyes. Toney also allegedly took the woman’s phone to prevent her from calling 911.

Authorities issued warrants for Toney’s arrest on January 15, and he was taken into custody at a Douglas County facility on February 6. Jail records indicate his bond was set at $25,000 for each charge.

Toney, a two-time Super Bowl champion with the Chiefs, started his NFL career with the New York Giants in 2021 before being traded to Kansas City in 2022. He was released by the Chiefs and later joined the Cleveland Browns in 2024, but was cut on December 10.

Throughout his NFL career, Toney recorded 82 receptions for 760 yards and three touchdowns. His most notable moment came in Super Bowl LVII, where he had a crucial punt return and touchdown against the Eagles.

Neither Toney nor his representatives have commented on the arrest.
