
A woman died in a fire at her home in Bagh-e-Korangi area of Karachi, while two children were severely injured.
The fire broke out suddenly on the ground floor of a residential house in Bagh-e-Korangi , located within the jurisdiction of the Awami Colony police station in Karachi. The fire quickly intensified, causing severe injuries to the three people present in the house. Police, Rangers, KMC fire brigade, and Rescue 1122 personnel responded promptly to the scene.
As a result of the fire, all the rooms and belongings in the house were completely destroyed, though the kitchen remained unharmed. The woman who died from burns was identified as Gulshan, wife of Rashid. The injured children, identified as Asma (also known as Hafza) and Ahmed, are the deceased woman's son and daughter.
Fire officer Javed Hassan from Shah Faisal Town stated that two batteries were found burned at the site, suggesting that the fire was caused by a short circuit.
Meanwhile, in the Mauripur area near Hawks Bay Grace, a fire broke out in a Suzuki vehicle during welding, leaving two people severely burned. They were transported to the Civil Burns Ward by an Edhi ambulance. The injured individuals were identified as 17-year-old Shahid, son of Umar, and 30-year-old Amir, son of Nazar Hussain.
Additionally, a shop in Korangi No. 4 mobile market in Karachi caught fire suddenly, which rapidly escalated. Upon receiving the report, two fire engines from the KMC Fire Brigade reached the site and controlled the fire within a short time.
During the fire, valuable goods were destroyed, though fire brigade officials confirmed that there were no casualties. The financial loss is still being assessed.
A month ago, fire that broke out in the Ghariyali Building in Saddar was brought under control, with five individuals safely rescued from the premises.
Chief Fire Officer of Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC), Humayun Khan, stated that upon receiving information about the fire on the third floor of the Ghariyali Building near Empress Market, a fire tender from the Saddar Fire Station was dispatched to the scene. However, the fire quickly spread from the third floor to parts of the fourth and fifth floors.
In response, four additional fire tenders, a bowser, and a snorkel were called to the location, accelerating firefighting efforts with the help of the snorkel.
