The People's Colony police have arrested five suspects, including a hotel manager and a guard, for allegedly engaging in fireworks, throwing money, and subjecting children to violence during a wedding ceremony on Jaranwala Road.
SHO of People's Colony, Rana Mughfur Ahmed, received a call on Rescue 15 reporting that fireworks were being set off at a wedding function on Jaranwala Road.
In response, the SHO, along with ASI Muhammad Akram and Security Constable Rehman Javed, arrived at the scene and arrested Muhammad Zahid, Iftikhar, hotel manager Asim, Muhammad Hassan, and Sakhawat Ali.
While at the event, Muhammad Zahid and the others were setting off fireworks, the hotel manager and the security guard supported their actions. The security guard allegedly assaulted children who attempted to collect scattered notes, leading to a stampede.
The police have registered a case against the suspects.
Meanwhile, four youths were slightly injured when their car overturned while racing on an expressway. They were provided medical aid on the spot and later shifted to a hospital.
Police arrived at the scene, took them into custody, and initiated legal proceedings.
The incident occurred late at night near WAPDA City on Canal Expressway in the remits of Chak Jhumra Police Station.
